In August 2022, the Upper Allen Township Police Department began investigating a report of an adult suspect having illegal communications with a juvenile female. After a thorough investigation, the adult suspect was identified as Richard Vogt from North Carolina. A search warrant was executed at his residence in North Carolina and additional evidence was located. An arrest warrant was then obtained for Vogt, and he surrendered to police on March 26, 2024. Vogt was released on bail and a preliminary hearing will be held in the near future. Upper Allen Township Police were assisted by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina.

Harrisburg Man Arrested for Drug Delivery Resulting in Death

On October 21, 2022, Upper Allen Police began investigating the death of a township resident that was the result of a drug overdose. The subsequent investigation revealed that Julio Arellano supplied dangerous drugs to the victim which caused the victim’s death. Arellano was subsequently arrested and remains incarcerated. A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date.

Upper Allen Police Attend STEM Night at Local Elementary School

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, the Upper Allen Township Police Department were invited to attend STEM Night at Upper Allen Elementary. The event, hosted by the Parent Teacher Organization, was space themed with a focus on the upcoming solar eclipse. Upper Allen Police put a patrol vehicle and special equipment on display for the kids who attended.

Child on Bicycle Struck by Hit and Run Driver

On Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2:30 pm, a child on a bicycle was struck by an unknown motorist. The child was traveling southbound in the 300 block of Gettysburg Pike when a witness observed a dark blue sedan strike the back of the bicycle, causing the child to flip over and land on the ground. The vehicle then fled the scene. It was reported that a gray sedan was driving behind the blue sedan and likely witnessed the crash. The child sustained injuries and was transported to Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

Upper Allen Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of the striking vehicle.

Upper Allen Police were assisted by the Upper Allen Fire Department and Penn State Health EMS on the scene.

Harrisburg Woman Arrested for Retail Theft

In October of 2022, Upper Allen Police investigated a retail theft from a business. An investigation identified Lauren Grohosky as the suspect and an arrest warrant was obtained. The arrest warrant was served on Grohosky and she appeared at a preliminary hearing on Thursday, February 29, 2024, where the charge was waived for court.
