On August 20, 2008 at 5:11 AM Upper Allen Police responded to the report of an auto accident in the area of US Route 15 South and South Market Street. An investigation revealed that Rachael Loudenslager had consumed alcohol prior to driving, fell asleep while driving and crashed into the guard rail. The crash sent debris into the northbound travel lanes where two additional vehicles sustained damage. Rachael was arrested for DUI and transported to the Cumberland County Prison where she was processed and then released. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled at a later date.

On July 14, 2008, at 2:45 AM, the four suspects pictured above were involved in a retail theft from the Giant Food Store on Cumberland Parkway in Mechanicsburg. The suspects stole several packs of razor blades and one pack of cigarettes. They were seen leaving in a white four door sedan.

Man Arrested for a Small Amount of Marijuana

On August 7, 2008 at 2008 hours, the Upper Allen Police Department was called to investigate two suspicious vehicles located in the southern end of the Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Travis McNeal and a female were encountered in the woods. After a short investigation, McNeal was arrested for a small amount of marijuana that was found at the scene. McNeal was arrested, processed and released.

Charges will be filed by summons through Magisterial District Judge Martin’s Office.

Driver Injured in Single Vehicle Crash

On August 7, 2008 at approximately 5:50 AM Upper Allen Police responded to the report of an injury accident on South Market Street. The accident was found to involve a single vehicle operated by Jake Johnson. Johnson stated that he swerved to miss a deer and lost control of his 2005 Scion TC. His vehicle jumped a small embankment and damaged several small trees on private property before coming to rest against a tree in thick brush. Johnson sustained an injury to his head and was transported by West Shore EMS. Upper Allen Police were assisted by the Upper Allen Fire Department, Upper Allen Fire Police, and West Shore EMS.

String of Criminal Mischief Incidents Occur Overnight

The Upper Allen Police Department has received numerous complaints related to criminal mischief activity which occurred during the early morning hours of August 6, 2008. There have been eleven reports of damage done to property with a majority of them involving vehicle windows being smashed with a blunt object, possibly a baseball bat. The string of incidents are believed to have begun at approximately 4:00 a.m. Reports of damage were received from the Canterbury Estates, Winding Hill, Allenview, Mt. Allen Heights, and Bowmans Hill neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Gas Drive Off Suspect Arrested

On August 2, 2008 at approximately 4:30 PM a brown Oldsmobile Cutlass pumped over $50 in gasoline at Sheetz then left without paying. The suspect took the extra step of covering his license plate to conceal his identity. An investigation revealed that Joshua Saussaman was suspect and he eventually admitted to the crime. Saussaman was arrested and taken to the Cumberland County Prison where he was processed on the misdemeanor retail theft charge. Saussaman is on probation in York County and he was subsequently transferred to the York County Prison for the probation violation. Charges will be handled via summons through Magisterial District Judge Martin’s office.

Upper Allen wants residents to take part in National Night Out

National Night Out is Tuesday August 5th from 6:00PM-10:00PM. Residents are encouraged to come out on their porches, turn their porch lights on, meet their neighbors, and interact with Police that may be traveling throughout their neighborhoods.

National Night Out is a time to strengthen neighborhood spirit, and police-community partnerships. National Night Out is a way to let criminals know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. So please come out and help your community!

Upper Allen Police will have extra patrol officers driving through your neighborhoods and they will be handing out do-it-yourself child ID/DNA kits for parents of young children. If you see an officer in your neighborhood we encourage you to engage them in conversation.

Attempted Vehicle Theft on Bishop Road

Sometime over the last two weeks someone entered a black F250 parked in the driveway of a residence in the 200 block of Bishop Road. The suspect damaged the wiring of the vehicle in an attempt to “hot-wire” and steal the vehicle. Burglary on Glendale Drive Yields an Arrest for Use of Stolen Credit Card

Sometime overnight on July 17, 2008 in to July 18, 2008 a home in the first block of Glendale Drive was entered while the residents slept. The suspect(s) stole a purse and a wallet. An investigation revealed that the suspect, Willie Dixon, used the stolen credit cards at numerous local stores the same morning of the burglary. A warrant was prepared and Willie Dixon was arrested for Access Device Fraud and Identity Theft. Dixon was taken to the Cumberland County Prison where he was arraigned in front of MDJ Brewbaker. Dixon was committed to prison on $7500.00 Bail. Dixon is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at MDJ Martin’s office on Friday July 31, 2008 at 11:30 AM.

Man Arrested Following Domestic Assault

On July 23, 2008 at approximately 10:00 AM the victim came to the Upper Allen Township Police Station to report a domestic assault that occurred earlier that morning. The victim stated that her father Paul Cherry assaulted her in the presence of her baby and younger sister for approximately one hour. Before being able to finally escape, Cherry grabbed the victim’s throat and threatened to kill her if she called the police.

On July 25, 2008 Upper Allen Police obtained an arrest warrant for Cherry. He was then taken into custody at the Upper Allen Township Police Station when he came to provide a statement about the incident. Once arrested, he was transported to Cumberland County Prison where he was arraigned and committed to the prison on $15,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Monday August 4, 2008 at 11:00 AM at MDJ Martin’s Office.
